The United States has finally ended America’s longest war in Afghanistan which was marked by the withdrawal of all their military forces on August 30, 2021. This withdrawal is a testament to America’s failure to implement its counterinsurgency strategy, which in turn provides opportunities for the terrorist group, the Taliban, to regain control of Afghanistan. The US withdrawal followed by the Taliban’s seizure of power in Afghanistan could further trigger the instability of regional peace and security and become a new challenge for the economy of its neighbouring countries, especially Pakistan and China, that have interests in Afghanistan. This chapter delves into a general discussion of the positive and negative implication of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan to Pakistan and China, who gains what and how. As a Muslim country, Pakistan has always promoted closer cooperation and relationship with other Muslim countries, yet this is not the case with Afghanistan.
