This chapter shows the relationship between the local and the global within Mormonism in the modern era, with a specific focus on Europe. It outlines Mormonism’s challenges in the transition to becoming a global religion, and emphasises that continuity and discontinuity from US Mormonism frames the position of the Church in a European context, and as a result comes to shape the experiences of European members. The chapter questions the extent to which the CoCJoLDS is willing to incorporate the contemporary diversity of European membership into its own perception of ‘Europe’, and argues that thus further marginalises migrant members and members of color in Europe who increasingly make up European membership.
