The northeastern corner of the Romanian Great Plain has a clear strategic importance in Eurasia, from the geopolitical, military, and economic communication point of view. The archaeological findings indicating the Hun (period) “peak elite” clearly outline the Buza u microregion as the centre of the “war machine” of the Hunnic Empire. Áccording to Istva n Bo na, this centre was perhaps moved to the Hungarian Great Plain during the time of Áttila, which could be confirmed by the greatest sacrificial find of the Central European Huns so far, the finds of the family of the ‟great kings” (Szeged-Nagysze kso s). However, the graves and scattered finds classified by the literature in the so-called D2 chronological time band, may indicate that these two central power centres could have operated in parallel: one in the Hungarian Great Plain, the other in the Romanian Great Plain. In light of Áttila’s southeastern and western Hun geopolitical strategy, this seems (more) reasonable.
