Abstract This chapter discusses the territory under Gothic domination during the fourth century. Thanks to the efforts of Romanian and Soviet archaeologists, over 3,000 Gothic settlements are known and 150 have been investigated. This chapter shows that the Goths' power is spread over an area between the Danube and the Don. It also looks at the culture that emerged during the second half of the third century, when the Goths were establishing themselves in the area, which eventually flourished during the fourth century.
