Edige

Edige

The Epic of Edige is an epic recounting the fall — in the 15th century at the hands of the Timurids — of the Golden Horde Khanate, which had been founded on the shores of the Caspian Sea in the 13th century.

The epic takes its name from Edige Mirza Bahadır, one of the emirs of the Golden Horde and the hero of this epic. The great struggles that Edige Mirza Bahadır waged to keep the Golden Horde state standing were turned into an epic in the 15th century, after his death.
