Döwletmämmet Azady (1700–1760) was a classical poet and thinker of Turkmen literature, the father and first teacher of the great poet Magtymguly Pyragy. He is known for his religious-moral and didactic poetry.
His most important work is the mathnawi called "Wagzy-Azat" (Sermon on Freedom), which he wrote on just governance, ethics, and social order; this work is regarded as one of the early examples of Turkmen political thought. Azady's teachings, through his son Magtymguly, deeply influenced the development of Turkmen literature.
