Banu Çiçek is the female heroine of the "Bamsı Beyrek" tale (story) in the Book of Dede Korkut. The daughter of Bay Bican Bey, she is portrayed as a valiant Oghuz girl skilled in horse riding, archery, and wrestling.
She tests Bamsı Beyrek, who wishes to marry her, in contests of horse riding, archery, and wrestling; but when Beyrek prevails, it emerges that he is her betrothed from the cradle. Banu Çiçek is one of the foremost examples of the strong, skilled, and honorable type of woman in the Turkish epic tradition.
