Devlet Bahçeli (b. 1948, Osmaniye-Bahçe) is an economist, academic, and statesman; he has held the chairmanship of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) since 1997. He served as Deputy Prime Minister from 1999 to 2002.
As one of the leading representatives of the Turkish nationalist tradition, he is known for his emphasis on the unity of the Turkic world, the survival of the state, and national unity. He has contributed to the search for stability and reconciliation in Turkish politics for many years.
