Selçuk Bayraktar (b. 1979) is an engineer in the field of control and autonomous systems; he is the chief technology officer of Baykar. As the chief designer of domestic unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/UCAVs) such as the Bayraktar TB2 and the Akıncı, he is regarded as one of the pioneers of the transformation of the Turkish defense industry.
While the national technologies he developed reduced Turkey's dependence on foreign sources, being exported to various countries—Azerbaijan foremost among them—they contributed to the defense capabilities of friendly and fraternal states. He is among the symbolic figures of Turkey's self-confidence in the fields of technology and engineering.
