Attila's son Dengizich attempted to cross the Danube in one final campaign; he was defeated by the forces of the Roman general Anagastes and beheaded.

His head was put on display in Constantinople. This event marks the last military action of the Huns in Europe. His brother Hernac settled in Dobruja; the tribe descended from him left traces down to the 7th century CE.
