At the Dereivka settlement on the Dnieper, bit wear from horse bridling dated to 4000–3700 BCE (bit-wear analysis) and the remains of horse sacrifices were found.

It indicates that horse culture on the steppe developed simultaneously to the west of Kazakhstan as well. One of the most disputed pieces of evidence for early horse riding.
