The Construction of the Great Mosque and Hospital of Divriği

Built in 1228-1229 by Ahmed Shah, the Seljuk vassal of the Mengujekid beylik, the Great Mosque and hospital (darüşşifa) of Divriği are on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The stone carving of the portals is without equal in Islamic architecture; the dense vegetal and geometric motifs represent the summit of Anatolian Seljuk stonework. The complex also functioned as a school of medicine.
