The Şehzade Mosque (1548), the Süleymaniye Mosque (1557) and the Selimiye Mosque at Edirne (1575) are his masterpieces. By his own account Şehzade was his apprentice work, Süleymaniye his journeyman work and Selimiye his masterwork. A monumental style held to have solved, for Ottoman-Islamic architecture, the problem of the dome posed by Hagia Sophia.
