The Yamnaya and Corded Ware Cultures: The Steppe–Europe Link

3000 BCE · Doğu-Orta Avrupa (Vistül-Ren) · cultural

Genetic and archaeological evidence shows that the Corded Ware culture, the European extension of the Yamnaya, brought a population of steppe origin into Central Europe on a large scale.

Steppe cultural elements (the kurgan, the horse, cattle, the timber house) were carried through the Balkans to Northern Europe. This expansion is the strongest model explaining the entry of the Indo-European languages into Europe.
