In 1413 Prince Mehmed (Mehmed I Çelebi) defeated his last rival, his brother Musa, seized the Ottoman throne and brought the Interregnum to an end.

He repaired the damaged timar system, reached an accommodation with the beyliks that had been lost, and renewed diplomatic relations with Venice and the other Christian powers. The Ottoman state was born a second time.
